I've figured out why
the bowels was the seat of the emotions in the old
testament!
Over the past few
weeks I've had many opportunities to feel.....many things.
Before I get the
point of my story, I will ask a few questions.
How many people out there have recently begun a new romantic
relationship?
Any butterflies in
the stomach?
Have you just had that "meeting with the boss" where you got appropriately
reemed for something you did wrong? That tightness in your diaphragm
testify to anything you may be feeling about how right or wrong he was?
How many of you are nervous before an audition, or performance, or meeting
somebody important? That feeling where it is like your intestines are
playing tug of war with each other...you remember it?
Ever been so embarrassed that you wanted to crawl in a whole and die?
How about a fight with your wife or husband? That feeling of, "How do I
apologize?"
How about the feeling where God intensely, deeply convicts you of something
incredibly important?
What do all
these things have in common, besides being feelings? If you were paying
attention, you would know the answer is hidden within the first few
questions.
THAT
FEELING IN THE PIT OF YOUR STOMACH
In the past couple weeks that
feeling has been caused by almost every single one of the above
situations. (No I am not having a romantic relationship with my iMac
:)
So it's that feeling in the pit of your stomach that is the Holy Spirit
speaking into your life... Just don't eat Mexican food with bad
jalapenos and then say that God hates you
